瞬态吸收测量是一项前沿技术,用于通过脉冲激光器照射样品后,生成和测量激发态分子和自由基等瞬态物质。该法有助于测量这些瞬态物质的吸收光谱及其时间变化。通过所得数据,我们可深入了解分子的激发态、激发态分子的动力学以及化合物的光解过程,从而追踪发光材料和器件中的光物理和光化学过程。
瞬态吸收测量依赖于两个脉冲光的使用,如图1所示。泵浦光用于激发样品,而探测光则检测泵浦光所致变化。故我们将该技术称为泵浦探测法。一般采用高功率激光器(如 Nd):YAG用作泵浦光,Xe灯等宽带光源则为探测光。
在泵浦光(脉冲激光器)的照射下,样品中的某些分子吸收光并跃迁至激发态。通过测量分子回到基态时的探测光,记录激发态分子的吸收光谱及其时间变化。

激发态下,样品常表现出不同于基态的吸收光谱。随着时间的推移,激发态分子逐渐回到基态。通过反复测量所有分子回到基态之前的吸收光谱,捕获吸收光谱的时间变化(图2)。

以光电倍增管 (PMT) 为探测器时,需用泵浦光和探测光反复照射样品,并改变测量时间点来采集数据。滨松集团的瞬态吸收测量系统具有时间分辨吸收光谱分析系统 (TRASS) 的特点,采用了条纹相机和光谱仪的组合结构,如图3所示。

采用条纹技术的TRASS具有极高的价值,其优势在于其可于单次激发事件中获取所有时间信息。这种单次测量方法不仅缩短了总测量时间,而且对易发生光劣化的样品亦展现出显著优势。
